
I still remember how the box art for Xenosaga (a terrible, interminably boring game) on PS2 advertised "over 30 hours of cutscenes!" It amazes me that that was the selling point because sitting through 30 hours of JRPG cutscenes sounds like something the CIA would force inmates to do in Guantanamo. It's the main reason I don't really dig the genre these days.

The PS2 generation unfortunately cemented the idea that endless cutscenes is how to tell a story in a JRPG.
